I. Announcements

The meeting began at 7pm and was held in the GHS commons.

Carlos Gardea announced that CJ Cameron has generously accepted the position of webmaster for the upcoming year.  Due to family commitments CJ is unable to serve the group as an officer. We are excited to have his services in this role.

Coach Kidd confirmed that the men’s teams (varsity and JV) will participate in a preseason tournament on January 2 in San Antonio. There will be a scrimmage on January 5th at GHS with Austin Bowie and Connolly and New Braunfels Canyon. The varsity boys will participate in the Comal Cup in New Braunfels on January 7 and 8. They will host the Governors Cup on January 14 -16. Then will travel to the Kingwood tournament for January 21 – 23.

Coach McBride confirmed that the women’s teams (varsity and JV) will participate in a preseason tournament on January 2 at GHS. The women’s team will scrimmage Belton on January 4. The varsity girls will travel to the Woodlands on January 7 and 8. They will travel across town to St. Stephens for January 14 – 16. They will host the Governors Cup on January 21 -23.

The men’s and women’s junior varsity teams will host a tournament at GHS on January 7.

The coaches confirmed that district play begins on January 26.  March 12 will be the last game of district play.  If the teams make the playoffs practices will be held on Thursday March 18 at GHS.

Coach Kidd announces that after school practice will not begin until after Thanksgiving in accordance with UIL rules.

II. Discussion

Coach McBride reminded all in attendance that when players are injured they need to report to the trainers.  This will allow for proper treatment and hopefully reduce down time for the players.

Pictures of last year’s individuals and team were donated. They were in exchange for advertising space in the program and the photographer being able to sell the pictures to the players.

Genghis Grill has expressed an interest in supporting the soccer program.  This is being explored by club officers.

Sandy Pennington has volunteered to work with the spaghetti dinner committee. She is contacting Maria Baker for last year’s procedures.

Changes have been made to the school’s soccer website. Please visit and give us feedback.  We are currently working on a mass email prior to all meetings to improve awareness.

The meeting came to closure at 8:00.
