I.            Announcements

The meeting began at 7pm and was held in the GHS commons.

Carlos Gardea opened the meeting welcoming the large turnout of 27 attendees.  He reviewed the minutes from the previous meeting and stated a printed copy was available at the information table for all to review.

Mr. Gardea announced for all the new attendees that they were welcome to review the volunteer lists located on the information table. The current focus of the boosters is to solicit the Georgetown community for advertising to be placed in the 2010 soccer program.  A final form will be available next week to gather information for ads in the program.  We are attempting to place the form on the website to increase access.  The forms will be made available to the coaches to distribute at the school.

Debbie Mullis, Treasurer announced that the current cash balance is $18,747.54.

Coach Kidd spoke for both programs as Coach Mc Bride had a previous commitment for the evening.  He announced that the men’s and women’s schedules for 2010 have been finalized.  There are printed schedules on the information table to take home. The varsity and JV teams will finalize rosters by December 3, 2009 for the upcoming season.

Coach Kidd announced that after school practice will not begin until after Thanksgiving in accordance with UIL rules.

The varsity and JV women will practice from 2:45 to 5:00 pm.  They will have practice on Saturday December 5 and 12 for those not participating in a tournament.

The freshman women will practice at GHS from 8:00 am to 9:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  They will lift weights at the Ninth Grade Center on Wednesday.

The varsity and JV men’s program will practice until 5:00 pm while the freshman men will practice until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Coach Kidd plans to finalize freshmen men’s rosters by Thanksgiving.  The JV teams will play at Leander on January 14 -16. Then they will play here on January 21 – 23.

The Governor’s Cup games for the men will be played at GHS and Southwestern.  The women will use the same facilities plus Mc Master.

The women’s program is looking for a director and sideline volunteers for the Governor’s Cup for the weekend of January 21 – 23.  Anyone interested please contact Coach McBride.

Coach Kidd confirmed that district play begins on January 26.  March 12 will be the last game of district play. Should the teams make the playoff the first game played will be on the Tuesday after the return from spring break.  Practices will be held the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of spring break week.

Georgetown has been selected to host the state soccer tournament on April 8 - 10.  Round Rock will host the regional soccer tournament April 1 – 3.

II.          Discussion

Annette Coe confirmed that Positive Image will be taking player’s pictures on Monday December 7.  The makeup date is Tuesday December 8.  Positive Image donated the pictures for last year. They were in exchange for advertising space in the program and the photographer being able to sell the pictures to the players.

The Spaghetti dinner will be held on January 2, 2010.  The start time will be at 6:00 pm.  The evening will include dinner with the opportunities to purchase the 2010 soccer program and various Eagle Soccer clothing items.

David Gaume discussed the efforts to acquire new artwork from the high school students for the 2010 clothing items.  We have not had much of a response.  He will try again to contact the school sources.  Christi Montgomery volunteered her son to draft some ideas for us.  He is a former GHS student home from college this weekend.

Genghis Grill has offered a 20% matching of all sales on Friday December 4 for lunch and dinner at their Wolf Ranch location.  The matching will be based on those patrons presenting the flyer supporting Eagle soccer.  Genghis Grill will provide 500 flyers that will be provided to the players and soccer supporters.  In addition we can post the flyer on our website.  We will ask that school include this event in the daily announcements (GHS and NGC) prior to December 4.

Several parents mentioned an interest in pursuing a pancake breakfast with Applebee’s as an additional fund raiser.  This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

We were approached by the band boosters to purchase their remaining inventory of 30 cases of red and blue PowerAde at $0.61 each.  The soccer concession stand workers felt we could receive a better price elsewhere so the offer was declined.

III.        Action items

Coach Kidd requested $5,000 each for the men’s and women’s programs for out of town travel in 2010.

Jennifer Soto made a motion that the soccer booster club provide the $10,000 to the soccer program for upcoming out of town travel.  The motion was seconded.  President Gardea called for a vote which was passed unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
